Framework
Examples of
successful poverty reduction have been associated with certain implementation
factors. The Global Learning Process and the
Conference in Shanghai will discuss and analyze these factors to
help shed light on how successful policies, programs and
projects may be scaled up to achieve significant poverty
reduction outcomes at the national, regional, and global levels
to significantly reduce poverty as measured against the
Millennium Development Goal targets which include both income
poverty reduction and improvement in basic social indicators.
The implementation factors
are:
There are two strategic
pillars indicating what governments and
communities can do to create a good environment for sustainable
growth and poverty reduction, and for ensuring that the
development process is inclusive:
-
Investment climate
-
Social inclusion
Analyzing
how the implementation factors and the strategic pillars
interact allows us to understand better how to successfully
scale up programs, polices and projects in order to reach
significant poverty reduction outcomes. Some 70 case study
examples from around the world have been identified and
analyzed. They form the backbone for this global exchange.
